Correction: the 3/5 clause gave the south greater voting power, but had nothing to do with voting rights of slaves. Thanks for everyone who pointed out this mistake. I learn more history here on 知乎 than I learned in school. Schools in the US can't compare in quality with schools in China. My apologies.

Democracy is an experiment in government. Those who founded the US government said that government by the people will only work if the people are responsible. This is why they said only people who owned property could vote, and only one vote per household was allowed. You didn’t have to be rich, but you did have to show that you were a responsible citizen.
Later, people wanted to make things fairer for everyone, and also have more than one vote per household. The South wanted all their slaves to have the right to vote, but the North disagreed because all those extra votes would overpower the North. They finally came to a compromise, allowing slaves to have 3/5 of a vote. After the Civil War, all the slaves were freed and each got a full vote. After that, anyone could vote, regardless if they were responsible and owned property, including women, whether they were in a household or not.
Democracy slowly began to fall apart. People started voting for personal benefits and entitlements. Government took over charity, taking it away from churches, charity groups, and families, and making these institutions irrelevant. Now our government is full of corruption and a large percentage of the population is dependent on government handouts. Welfare and mandated insurance are rampant. People are losing their incentive to work hard and innovate. Minimum wage and unions give workers more pay and benefits than what they are worth, stifling employment and productivity, and raising the cost of goods and services. Now we are all broke slaves. With high labor costs, we mow our own grass, repair our own houses, wash our own windows, and fill up our own cars at the gas station. With high taxes, the middle class can’t save money, lives paycheck to paycheck, and has just enough to pay a bank mortgage for a small
house and put food on the table. Many are homeless, unable to find work. We can’t manufacture or compete on the world market. Churches are social clubs. Families are breaking up. The elderly are put in retirement and nursing homes. The moral fabric of society is tearing apart.
Do I support Trump? Many things have to change if democracy is to survive. At least Trump is for lower taxes. Trump wants to get corruption and bribery out of government. Trump wants to enforce existing laws, which has been lacking in the Executive Branch of government for years. At least these are changes in the right direction. Trump wants to make America free again. Hillary wants to make us impoverished slaves through tyranny, corruption, and oppression. Both Trump and Hillary are strong leaders. One will lead us toward freedom, the other will drive us to slavery.
I’m what they call a hard-workin’ red-neck, Bible-believin’ gun-totin’ huntin’ fishin’ God-&-country kind of guy. I’m a Trump supporter, along with a lot of other people here who know what they believe and why they believe it. I want to see my country succeed, but not at the expense
of injustice and corruption.
Just got my ballot, time to vote :)
